Legendary Interviewer & WWE Hall Of Famer "Mean" Gene Okerlund Passes Away At Age 76

January 2, 2019

It's reported by several sources and by WWE.com, that legendary backstage interviewer and WWE Hall of Famer "Mean" Gene Okerlund, has sadly passed away at the age of 76.

Okerlund got his start in professional wrestling, interviewing for Verne Gagne's AWA, before hitting the big time of Vince McMahon's WWF (WWE) in 1984, where he provided backstage interviews, ringside commentary and hosting several of WWE's marquee shows such as Tuesday Night Titans and Prime Time Wrestling.

After being in the WWE for over a decade, Okerlund headed south to Atlanta, to World Championship Wrestling, where he would continue to interview some of the promotions top stars such as; Sting, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Randy "Macho Man" Savage. He truly was an icon in professional wrestling.

We here at Kayfabe Kickout would like to extend our deepest condolences to Okerlund's friends and family at this time.
